Hummingbird Feeder

This handmade bird feeder is perfect for attracting hummingbirds in to your yard. The feeder hangs nicely from a shepherd's hook, garden hook, or outdoor hook and it has a strong loop that was attached prior to being fired in the kiln. It includes a rubber stopper with feeder attachment with a red tip to attract humming birds.

Here's the recipe for artificial nectar (syrup):
Use one part ordinary white cane sugar to four parts water.

This mixture approximates the average sucrose content (about 21%) of the flowers favored by North American hummingbirds, without being so sweet it attracts too many insects.

This feeder measures approximately 4" wide and 8" from top of the loop to the bottom of the feeder piece.

It is available in indigo blue or light blue.

This piece was hand thrown on the wheel. After slowing drying to the "leather hard" stage for about 24 hours, it was trimmed on the wheel again and the handle was hand pulled and added. It then was dried completely over a few days and bisque fired to 1940F. After cooling completely, glazes were applied and it received its final firing to 2232F. Each firing takes a minimum of 24 hours to complete. The entire process from start to finish for a piece takes about 2 weeks.

All of my pottery is food-safe and non-toxic. It is dishwasher, microwave and oven safe. To protect your pottery, never expose it to extreme or drastic temperature changes between cold and hot.

Because all of my pieces are hand made, there may be slight variations in coloring and textures giving each a unique character that is functional and beautiful. Use it well, and enjoy.
